Book of the Week; All Things New by Lynn Austin

Being southern born and bred, I love reading about the south.  In All Things New Lynn Austin does an amazing job portraying the complicated pains and hardships on a small Virginia community in the time of reconstruction.

Josephine Weatherly is a young daughter of a plantation owner groomed for a life of ease who finds herself destitute and starving with everyone in the south.  The people that come into her life reveal themselves to be the same mixture of good and bad regardless of which side of the war they fought on or the color of their skins.

It’s a wonderful read complete with romance, suspense and profound moral dilemmas.  I know you’ll enjoy it.  Here’s Chapter 1 on on audio book for you to check it out.

About Karen Tripp

Beyond being a Christian Counselor and the President of Cancer Companions, Karen loves to read (she's a great reader) and loves to sing (she's a bad singer) in her home near St Louis, MO. Cancer has personally touched Karen's personal life through her dad - a 23 year colon cancer survivor. Impacting lives for Christ through her speaking, writing and counseling fills Karen with a passion which infuses every task she approaches. (except matching socks. Karen hates matching socks.)
