BOOK OF THE WEEK: This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti

Reading Frank Peretti’s book This Present Darkness  changed my prayer life forever.   After reading this timeless classic, I finally understood that prayers are not casual interactions with God but powerful opportunities to join in God’s plan for the world around me.  Sounds like a lot to get form a book.

The cool thing is this is not a book about prayer.  This Present Darkness is a murder mystery, where the main characters try to solve the mystery.  But Peretti has added a twist.  This mystery has giant angels in army fatigues battling disgusting slimy demons in an effort to bring truth and salvation into the lives of the characters in the book.   The characters don’t see the battle raging around them and their only direct interaction with the goals of the angels is…you guessed it… prayer.

This book isn’t intended to be a treaties on Christian doctorine but it is intended to make you look at the good and evil in the world around you in a whole new way.  Eventually you’ll see that in Peretti’s world, the real  power  doesn’t come from the warrior angels but from the prayers of Christians like you and me.   You’ll find yourself on the edge of your seat  hoping those silly Christian in the book would just pray!

Don’t miss this book!!
