If you love Jane Austen books, you know that from the five books she has written, other authors have written hundreds, maybe thousands of books using her characters, sets and plot lines. One of the books which retold the story of Pride and Prejudice which I enjoyed is Mr Darcy’s Diary by Amanda Grange.
My favorite part of Pride and Prejudice is near the end when Mr. Darcy is given a few pages to tell Elizabeth some details of their courtship from his view point. He told her when he first fell in love with her and what the path back to her had been like for him. After reading this, I wanted to know more of Mr Darcy’s story.
Granger has delivered in wonderful detail the events and feelings Austen leaves us tasting but not exploring. Reading the details in diary style only added to the feeling of validity of the character for me.
There are lots of spin off Austen books that are not worth the read but Mr Darcy’s Diary is definitely worth a try.
