BOOK REVIEW OF THE WEEK: Sworn to Protect by DiAnn Mills

I love a good suspense/mystery but I appreciate the author offering something more.  In Sworn to Protect, DiAnn Mills did her homework and offers the reader an intriguing look into the world of the Texas/Mexican Border Patrol.  Seeped in the land of the Midwest, the complexities of a border patrol agent are something I could only cleave from 60 second news sound bites.  Mills presents a multifaceted view of the moral and political difficulties surrounding the flow of illegal immigrants crossing the US border.  Result?  I learned some stuff.

Danika Morales is a  border patrol agent who discovers her husband has been aiding illegal immigrants only resulting in his unsolved murder.  Two years later as people in her life begin to be targeted by an unknown enemy, Morales must discover the cause of her husband’s murder or risk the lives of those she loves.  Of course there’s a good looking doctor in the mix, just to keep things interesting.

Sworn to Protect is worth the read.  It’s enjoyable, intelligent and very thought provoking.  all good things in my book.
