BOOK REVIEW OF THE WEEK:The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Schafer and Annie Barrows

I was signing books at a Borders and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society was on the display near my table.  The title and cover were so extrordinary that I couldn’t help but pick it up.  After just a few pages I fell in love with the people and longed to make a trip to Guernsey myself.

The characters are what hook you but the plot is exquisite.  I admire a writer that can mix present and past plots smoothly and creatively and Barrows and Schaffer have certainly done just that.  It’s a book I will pick up and reread in years to come because it settles my heart.  Take a trip to the little island of Guernsey by falling into the scrumptius book!
