Parents and Cancer Webinar: Finding Stability for Children, Teens and Young Adults

Tuesday, August, 27th 7:30-8:30PM EDT/6:30-7:30PM CDT

Whether you are 8, 18 or 28 when your parent is diagnosed with cancer, your world suddenly shifts. The person you typically turn to for stability is now facing a vast amount of uncertainty, leaving you confused about what to do next. The questions of what to do, what to say and how to act infects not only the child but the parent too. At a time when instability is the norm, how do you maintain stability in the parent/child relationship?

Join Family Therapist and Cancer Companions President Karen Tripp MS LMFT to:

  • Learn to improve the communication in the parent/child relationship.
  • Determine which unspoken expectations are fuels for unnecessary misunderstandings.
  • Discover if the frustration and fatigue in the family are signs of guilt, fear and other disruptive feelings.

From East Coast to West Coast, Karen Tripp has turned her gift of gab into the gift to help others in need. Whether laughing with an audience, sharing through her books, or counseling one heart at a time, Karen joins people where they are and lifts them towards hope.  Graduated from University of Miami with a Masters in Counseling Psychology, Karen has worked for years with families, couples and individuals.  As author of God is Bigger Than Your Cancer and a daughter of a colon cancer survivor, Karen brings her training as a Marriage and Family Therapist to her work with cancer families.

In addition to her work as an author and counselor, Karen is also President of Cancer Companions- a ministry that trains, equips, and supports caring people to draw cancer families closer to Christ.  In her role as President, Karen trains the Cancer Companions ministry leaders and peer counselors as well as writes training materials for participants and volunteers.  Karen lives in St Louis with her husband where she enjoys leading Bible studies, playing in creeks, and making sugar cookies with kids of all ages.

About Karen Tripp

Beyond being a Christian Counselor and the President of Cancer Companions, Karen loves to read (she's a great reader) and loves to sing (she's a bad singer) in her home near St Louis, MO. Cancer has personally touched Karen's personal life through her dad - a 23 year colon cancer survivor. Impacting lives for Christ through her speaking, writing and counseling fills Karen with a passion which infuses every task she approaches. (except matching socks. Karen hates matching socks.)
