Most days my focus is on getting to the next day but Nicole Nordeman wants us to think about our legacy. The word “legacy’ tends to lead us to think of massive plans and grandiose accomplishments. But this song puts the essence of a God-pleasing legacy into simple words: to be” A child of mercy and grace who blessed Your name unapologetically.” Here’s the rest of the chorus:
I want to leave a legacy
How will they remember me?
Did I choose to love?
Did I point to you enough to make a mark on things?
I want to leave an offering
A child of mercy and grace who blessed Your name unapologetically
And leave that kind of legacy
Maybe a legacy is about the people in your life knowing you are a Christian. Maybe it’s showing mercy to those that have hurt you and grace to the undeserving without facebook updates or tweets announcing your good work. Maybe a legacy is not something anyone can see except for the marks you’ve left on others lives.
The video shows folks that are living their legacy. They’re not preachers of a mega church or amazing ministry leaders. They are people like you and me. Take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbi4nSrhRxo
