Lauren Floyd, Raleigh NC Regional Representative
My name is Lauren Floyd and I currently reside in Garner, NC. As a young girl, I grew up in a faith-filled home with supportive Christian parents. They instilled in me the desire to “Be a Light” in a lost world. After graduating in 2003 from UNC-Pembroke, I entered the field of Education with a single mission in mind: To shape and mold young lives and to make a lasting difference. I served in the classroom for several years, but down the road I felt Spirit-led to begin a new career. I soon took on the role of ‘Qualified Professional’ responsible for enhancing the lives of the ‘Developmentally-Disabled’. This position was truly rewarding and life-changing. God’s Spirit through me was able to restore Joy in brokenness, shine Hope into loneliness and spread the unconditional love of Jesus at every turn. At the present time, I am leading a business of my own called “The Gifted Guys & Gals.” This program offers a creative, hands-on approach to learning and is designed for children/teens between the ages of 5-17. Areas of expertise include Vocal Coaching, Public Speaking, Confidence-Building and One-to-One Mentoring. As I seek to carry out this God-inspired Ministry, I am reminded of a Scripture that has become a ‘Life Verse’ for all my students: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16). I am beyond excited to begin this brand-new journey as Regional Representative for Cancer Companions! I lift my hands in Praise to say, “Here I am Lord, Use me.”

Sarah Kivett is a Registered Nurse who has been working with oncology patients and their families since 1985. She is currently the Oncology Nurse Director at Iredell Health System in Statesville, North Carolina. She began her nursing career specifically stating that she was not interested working with cancer patients, however, she was working full time in an oncology clinic within one year, showing that God’s plans for her were stronger than her own. She has continued her work with oncology patients and families since that time. She was drawn to Cancer Companions because of the support it gives survivors who often experience distress during their journey. The program gives them a concrete study tool they can use to answer questions they have spiritually and still remain close to the Lord. As a nurse, providing patients with tools to cope and address their illness is so much of what we do. Spirituality is so much a part of healing, whether survivors are believers or not. Being a part of Cancer Companions gives that structure to support and reveal God and His grace to each and every survivor. Having a small part in that journey with them is a blessing within itself.
Sarah graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Western Carolina University. She is an Oncology Certified Nurse and a member of the Piedmont Triad Chapter of the National Oncology Nursing Society. She is a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church and coordinates the church’s cancer ministry.
Sarah and her husband of 29 years, Steve, live in Statesville, NC and have three children.

Dr. Collins migrated from Bermuda to North America to study radiological science several years ago. While there she met her life partner Zeus and moved to Maryland where they attend New Covenant Community Church. Always a proponent of community health initiatives, she participates in fitness, health, homeless, and recovery programs. Recently, Dr. Collins conducted health research in Baltimore. Her focus was the church’s role in advocacy, especially relating to health promotion and disease prevention. Dr. Collins believes that her steps are ordered by God, and that her connection with Cancer Companions confirms her faith-inspired path to assist her community through Christ-centered support. She anticipates God’s favor and a great impact on families through the expansion of Cancer Companions in the Maryland region.
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
